the most populous country in the world by the year 2027. India's rising
population is a grave concern. If it does not get controlled timely, it will
hamper country's growth, development and progress.Let's take a look at the
causes, effects and solutions of this serious problem.
Causes
Unawareness and illiteracy: People are not aware of the unpleasant
consequences of having a big family. They don't know how birth control methods
by using protection, contraceptive pills and various medical procedures.
Religious belief: Some people believe that having more
children is the blessing of god.
Social customs: Customs like polygamy is also one of the
factors that leads to large families.
Better medical facility and technology: With the advancement in science and
technology, it became possible to reduce mortality rate and increase birth rate
leading to the growth in population.
Effects
Unemployment: It is a major problem due to
overpopulation. This problem can be noticed nowadays.Less jobs, more applicant
and aspirants. People are getting jobless and struggling to get jobs that are
even below their educational standards. No jobs means no survival. This
situation is getting worse with the passage of time. Dark futures for the
freshers due to growing unemployment.
Crowd and long lines: You will see crowd everywhere. It would
be very difficult to manage traffic in busy places. We see long queues at
banks, cinema halls, hospitals, airports and railways counters which sometimes
get very hard to manage.
Tough Competition: Due to rising population, you can see a
large number of competitors in each and every field.Everybody is facing a tough
competition because crowd is everywhere.Be it educational or business field,
competition heats up. So it gets tough to survive in this cut throat
competition.
Limited resources and food production: More people means more demands. With the
increase in demands, more supply and production are required to meet the needs
of the population. This gives a big challenge to the country to produce food
crops and procure resources in large quantities which is not easy as it looks.
For this, better planning, modern techniques and equipments are required which
add more financial burden to the country's expenditure.
Pollution: More people will burn more fuel and dump more wastes
resulting in the increased pollution. As you know, pollution is also a growing a
concern and various steps and measures are being taken to reduce it. It also
becomes difficult how to reduce and dump wastes and make a clean environment.
Loss of habitat: As the population grows, humans acquire
more lands by moving to jungles and cutting trees and plants to construct
homes, buildings and industries. This forced many animals and birds to leave
their homes and take shelters to places that are not good for their breeding
and survival.
War and conflict: Due to strong competition, unemployment,
food shortages and encroachment, war and conflict like situation will be on
rise.
Poverty: Due to inadequate food, resources, supplies and jobs,
country will lead to poverty.
Solutions
Family Planning method: People should make a better family
planning according to their financial and health status.
Awareness: First of all, steps should be taken to educate
people about sex.We should try to educate young generation so that they can
know about the sex education.
Control and Protection: People should use protection while
having sex and should undergo vasectomy and surgical operation for birth
control in the family.
Government programmes: Population control awareness campaigns
should be launched to educate people about the bad consequences of overpopulation.
Government should take active part in it and should also start some family
programmes to control birth rate in the country. It should make efforts to
spread awareness programme by using taglines like "Hum Do Aur Hamaray
Do".
