This
year, the world has witnessed the number of destructive events in its beginning
that indicates the coming days are not going to be easy for the people living
on this planet. It seems that we are getting reactions for their own actions
from the nature. Let's take a look at the catastrophic events that shook the
world.
1. Australian bush fires
A deadly wildfire broke out in Australia during
bush fire season that burned around 12.35 million acres of land .It destroyed
more than 2000 homes and also damaged 5900 buildings.This deadly fire claimed
the lives of around 28 people. Millions of animals found dead as per reports.
Australia recorded the maximum temperature in history in the month of December.
After facing the months of severe droughts, the intense heat wave and maximum
temperature resulted in the furious fire which affected billions of animals.
South Wales and Victoria were the worst hit states.A large number of plants and
trees gutted in the fire. Experts say that climate change worsened the impact
and scope of natural disaster.

is the worst flood in the decades.Jakarta is one of the fastest sinking
cities. It is particularly prone to flooding because it was built on swampy
grounds. On 1 January 2020, heavy rainfall accompanied with thunderstorms
affected the dozen of districts which were never inundated before under the
influence of river. This torrential downpour caused the rivers to rise their
levels and hit many areas with the massive flood.It claimed at least 67
lives.Many people were drowned and some of them were electrocuted. More than
36,000 people abandoned their homes and took shelter to rescue themselves from
devastating flood waters.
3. Corona Virus
China
has been combating very deadly virus in the beginning of year 2020. An
infectious virus named Corona broke out in Wuhan, china. Corona viruses are a
group of viruses that cause respiratory tract illnesses, including the common
cold, but can sometimes bee more serious, particularly for infants, the elderly
and patients with weak or compromised immune systems.This virus is infecting
people rapidly and spreading in other parts of the country as well. It has
claimed at least 800 lives and infected more than 31,500 people across 26
countries.If efforts were not made to control the virus ,the situation would
have been worse.
4. Africa locust
infestation
In
January, Africa faced the worst situation of locust infestation. Billions of
locusts swarmed across Eastern Africa and flooded the sky. It was a very
unpleasant and terrifying scene. It posed a threat to the food security of
Africa.Desert locusts form swarms that can fly up to 150 km and can eat their
own weight in food daily. They had already destroyed hundreds and thousands of
crops before but now they came with greater force. This posed danger to the
vegetation and fragile food security. Africa is already facing food shortages
due to inadequate food,drought and rain and this incident has worsened the
problem. Somalia is the first country that declared emergency over the locusts
infestation. The UN says that this situation is the worst in the 25 years due
to locusts swarms.According to reports, tens of thousands of crops have been
devastated in the Kenya region.
